R&M is led by our six-person Board of Directors who steer the organization towards a sustainable future and overall success.

An R&M employee since 1979, Len worked his way up from field surveyor to Vice President with responsibility for management of the Surveying and Mapping Department, to his current position as Chief Executive Officer. He offers strong leadership and operational knowledge and has played an important role in implementing the firm’s operational structure since 2002. A member of R&M’s senior management team, Len plays a vital role in advancing the firm’s existing work by supporting the operational departments and leading execution of R&M’s strategic plan. He is also the President of the firm’s Board of Directors. Len holds an A.A.S. in Engineering/Surveying Technology from the Oregon Institute of Technology.

Andrea Story, CPSM

Andrea is a Vice President at R&M and has more than 18 years of marketing and business development experience in the architecture/engineering industry. She has been an employee of the firm since 2005, and is responsible for the firm’s marketing and business development efforts, as well as guiding firm-wide community involvement activities. Andrea serves on the firm’s Board of Directors and has been instrumental in development and advancement of R&M’s strategic plan. She holds a B.B.A. in Marketing from the University of Alaska Anchorage and received her certification as a Certified Professional Services Marketer through the Society for Marketing Professional Services in 2001.

Paul HetzelPaul Hetzel, PE

Paul is R&M’s Vice President of Construction Administration and serves on the firm’s board of directors. He has more than 30 years of construction administration experience, including 28 in Alaska. A member of the R&M team since 1995, he has built a reputation for working smoothly and responsively with agency construction staff, contractors and the public. Paul holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from California State University, and holds multiple construction administration-related certifications.

Kim Nieslen, PE

Kim joined R&M in 2001 and serves as the firm’s Group Manager of Waterfront Engineering. She has more than 26 years of waterfront and environmental engineering experience in Alaska, and oversees and develops designs for port and harbor facilities and upland support facilities. Kim has an innate ability to think logically, and offers an unbiased opinion on almost every aspect of our business. Her proven reputation and demand for quality and integrity demonstrates a deep commitment to maintaining high standards. Kim holds a B.S. in Ocean Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Bill PrestonBill Preston, PLS

Bill is R&M’s Vice President of the Geomatics Department. He offers more than 17 years of experience in land surveying and mapping in Alaska. Bill joined R&M in 2000 as a college intern and graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a B.S. in Geomatics. He has been instrumental in preserving the excellence and efficiency of R&M’s Geomatics Department. Bill has the ability to ‘think outside the box’ in identifying problems and implementing innovative solutions that creates value in all facets of the firm.

Tim Grier, PE

Tim is R&M’s Vice President of the Engineering Department. He has 27 years of civil engineering experience managing and designing a broad range of highway and related transportation projects, including the past 10 years with R&M. Tim holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He is a lifelong Alaskan and a second generation civil engineer. Tim brings a wealth of industry experience, a strong technical background and a keen business sense. His strong ambition for strategic growth will provide tremendous benefits to R&M’s board and the organization as a whole.
