Carla is a professional engineer with 21 years of experience. She is passionate about helping Alaskan communities develop transportation infrastructure by coordinating project designs with local stakeholders. Carla has developed numerous airport projects in rural and urban Alaskan communities. Her experience includes resurfacing, rehabilitations, reconstructions, and relocations of runways, taxiways and aprons; equipment building layouts; access road realignments and relocations; navigational aid placement and relocation; approach lighting system design; and signing and lighting, including upgrading airport lighting systems to LED.

  • What places are on your travel bucket list?
    Central America, New Zealand, Sweden, Scotland and another trip to Israel.
  • If you weren’t doing your current job, what would be your dream job?
    Owning a bakery with a coffee shop and a separate farm for year-round gardening.
  • What is a fun fact few people know about you?
    I learned to scuba dive in Alaska and earned my Advanced Open Water Certificate training. I have been sailing in Alaska, Florida Keys, Hawaii, and the Mediterranean and Red Seas.

    The ocean.

    Cooking and gardening.
