Ben Effinger, EIT

Staff Engineer

Ben joined R&M’s Surface Transportation Group in 2026 after graduating from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He began his career as an engineering intern, supporting transportation and infrastructure projects for R&M and the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities. Ben’s experience includes roadway design, traffic safety analysis, drainage and hydraulic modeling, utility coordination and airport improvements. He has contributed to projects across Alaska using Civil 3D, ArcGIS Pro and hydraulic modeling software. As a lifelong Alaskan, Ben is committed to developing safe, reliable infrastructure that serves communities throughout the state.

    Psychologist. I love learning how people think.

  • What is one skill you are currently working on?
    Reading more often and thoroughly. I fell like I get distracted a lot.

    Teleportation, for sure.
