Newtok Airport Relocation, Remote Sensing

Client
Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities
Location
Mertarvik, Alaska
Construction Value
$30 million

R&M performed a design and ROW survey for 500 acres in support of the engineering design of the Newtok Airport Relocation. R&M also collected survey controlled UAS imagery. We used the UAS imagery point cloud to QC the design survey and to verify drainages along the exterior of the design survey limits.

Erosion caused by the Ninglick River is estimated to impact the Newtok Airport by 2022. Relocation of the airport is part of creating the infrastructure necessary to provide the community with a safe, stable and healthy existence within their traditional lands.
