Chad Weiler, PLS has been named Group Manager of Land Surveying at R&M. As Group Manager, he manages R&M’s Land Surveying Group and ensuring surveying and mapping projects are produced in accordance with current standards of practice. Chad will supervise work of survey parties engaged in collection, processing and mapping of survey data, including ALTA/land title, boundary, geodetic control, engineering design, right of way surveys, platting, hydrographic, topographic/planimetric, aeronautical, 3D laser scanning, subsurface utility surveys and GIS spatial acquisition surveying services.

“Becoming Group Manager means a lot to me. It’s intimidating for sure, due to the successes this department has had over the decades, but it’s a challenge that I’m looking forward to. I couldn’t ask for a better group of professionals to work with, ranging from interns up to individuals nearing retirement, and it’s their knowledge and experiences that will make this new job for me a lot easier.”

Chad Weiler, PLS

Chad has 25 years of experience in all facets of field and office surveying and has been with R&M since 2014. He has managed surveying and mapping projects ranging from small design surveys to large multi-crew road corridor projects. Chad has planned and executed field surveys, collected field data, took detailed field notes, reduced data and prepared final deliverables ranging from project control summaries to final mapping.

Chad’s work includes projects for clients such as Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility, Municipality of Anchorage Project Management & Engineering Department, Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, and Alaska Railroad Corporation. Under these contracts, he has performed many field-to-final mapping surveys for control, design and construction. Some of Chad’s recent project work includes airport surveys at Atmautluak, Kasigluk and McGrath Airports; and  survey field work and right of way computations for the Kodiak Rezanof Drive ADA Improvements project and Fern Street Upgrades and Pathway project in Wasilla.

“My goals as Group Manager are twofold: First, I want to continue the successes this department has had over the years. R&M has been providing surveying services well over 50 years and has a very strong reputation for doing so. Second, I want to mentor the younger surveyors and help them achieve the goals they’ve set for themselves. Being put in a position to provide the means and knowledge to younger individuals means a lot to me and I’m looking forward to following through with that.”

Chad Weiler, PLS

Chad has a B.S. in Geomatics from the University of Alaska Anchorage, is a professional land surveyor licensed in Alaska, and a member of the Alaska Society of Professional Land Surveyors and National Society of Professional Land Surveyors.
