Senior Environmental Geologist or Engineer
In A Nutshell
R&M is looking for a team-oriented Senior Environmental Geologist or Engineer to support our Earth Sciences Department as a technical lead for contaminated sites projects, interfacing with clients, regulators and subcontractors.
This is an on-site position, with occasional travel to projects sites throughout Alaska.
The successful applicant will demonstrate integrity and a strong work ethic to successfully organize and manage complex projects. R&M expects the Senior Environmental Geologist or Engineer to perform business development activities to maintain existing and develop new clients and to actively participate and represent R&M in professional organizations and community activities.
The Senior Environmental Geologist or Engineer will report to the Geosciences Group Manager and will supervise and interact with other staff depending on project team structure.
On Any Given Day
On a typical day, the Senior Environmental Geologist or Engineer will support contaminated site projects and coordinate with concurrent environmental permitting and geotechnical investigation projects by:
Interacting, communicating and collaborating with other R&M staff.
- Developing proposals.
- Producing cost estimates.
- Executing contaminated sites projects
- Planning subsurface investigations and site characterizations.
- Writing technical reports and analyzing data.
- Supervising contaminated site field work and subcontractors.
Typical work duties will be a mix of field and office work, depending on current project needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Geology, Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
- Alaska Certified Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer, licensed in Alaska, (or able to achieve through reciprocity within six months of hire).
- 8 to 15 years of related experience.
- ADEC Qualified Environmental Professional (18 AAC 75.333 / 18 AAC 78.088).
Applicants should also be able to demonstrate:
- Demonstrated understanding of ADEC/EPA contaminated site regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to produce accurate, organized and consistent work products.
- Ability to analyze qualitative or quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions.
All candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills. Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds and have a valid Alaska driver’s license.
Additional Desired Qualifications
- M.S. in Geology, Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER
- HAZWOPER Supervisor
- 30-hour OSHA training
- First Aid and Adult CPR
