Evan Nichols, EIT, WAQTC; Josh Costello, EIT, CESCL, WAQTC; and Pat Ryan, EIT recently joined R&M.
Evan joined R&M full-time in 2025 as a Staff Engineer in the firm’s Construction Administration Group after two summers as an engineering intern. He assists with the administration of federal and state-funded construction contracts and performs construction engineering, inspection and oversight on infrastructure improvement projects. Evan’s experience includes airport and highway construction inspections, materials testing and climate station upgrades along the Alyeska pipeline right-of-way.

Evan holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He is an Engineer-in-Training and Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction (WAQTC) Qualified in aggregate, concrete, embankment and base, and density. Outside of work, Evan enjoys skiing, snowboarding, hiking, camping, cooking, traveling and sharpening his chess skills. A fun fact, he summited Mt. Rainier when he was just 15.
Josh also joined R&M full-time in 2025 as a Staff Engineer in the firm’s Construction Administration Group after two summers as an engineering intern. He assists with the administration of federal and state-funded construction contracts and performs construction engineering, inspection and oversight on infrastructure improvement projects. Josh’s experience includes highway construction inspections and materials testing. He previously worked as a construction laborer and operator, gaining valuable field experience installing utilities and site infrastructure, operating equipment, and supporting grading and surveying activities.

Josh holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He is an Engineer-in-Training, an Alaska Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead, and WAQTC Qualified in aggregate, concrete, embankment and base, and density. Outside of work, Josh can usually be found in the Alaskan outdoors, either skiing, snowboarding, camping, fishing, hiking or hunting. He also enjoys cooking and traveling.
Pat joined R&M’s Surface Transportation Group as a Staff Engineer, bringing nine years of experience supporting transportation and civil infrastructure projects across Alaska. His expertise includes roadway, airport and drainage design, as well as construction administration. Pat is skilled in using AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop alignments, profiles, grading surfaces and pipe networks, and prepares detailed construction plan sets and engineer’s estimates. He also has experience in construction inspection, quality assurance and contract administration.

Pat holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and is an Engineer-in-Training. Outside of work, he enjoys pulling his shrimp pots, fishing, boating, playing with his dog and spending time outdoors.
