R&M welcomed our 2026 intern class this summer across Engineering, Planning, Geomatics and Construction Services. Alongside our team of experts they’re learning new specialized skills, tackling challenges and experiencing our state’s diverse landscapes firsthand. They’ve provided much needed support during the busy summer months, while also bringing the team fresh perspectives and energy.

These interns aren’t just watching from the sidelines during their time with us; they’re helping shape projects across Alaska. Our interns are involved across a project’s lifespan, including conducting materials testing and sampling, assisting with drafting plans, writing reports, creating roadway design models, conducting research, preparing planning graphics and supporting survey efforts in remote locations.Every day is an opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world engineering, planning and construction challenges.

R&M’s internship program is designed to grow alongside a student’s academic interests and career goals. Many interns begin by learning the fundamentals of construction support and materials testing before advancing into different areas like construction administration, geotechnical fieldwork, surveying, planning or design engineering. Through each stage, interns build practical skills and industry knowledge that prepare them for future opportunities.

We offer internships in all our departments and actively recruit from local schools like the University of Alaska Anchorage and University of Alaska Fairbanks. In addition to project work, interns benefit from mentorship, professional development opportunities, field experience and the collaborative culture that makes R&M a great place to learn and grow. For some, this is their first professional experience; for others, it’s another step in a continuing journey with R&M. We’re proud to provide a foundation for wherever life takes them next.
