Gretchen Meyers, PLS has joined R&M as a Senior Land Surveyor in the firm’s Geomatics Department. In this position, Gretchen will produce surveying and mapping projects in accordance with current standards of practice in support of infrastructure projects.

Gretchen was initially a member of the R&M team from 2010 to 2014, when she left the workplace to raise her children. She recently re-joined the R&M team and returns with her seven years of experience in land surveying. Gretchen has been involved with field and office aspects of engineering design surveys, topographic and planimetric surveys, and detailed as-built surveys for a variety of public clients. This work includes road, airport, utility, military and subdivision projects throughout Alaska.

“Jumping back into a career after taking time off is not easy, but I knew R&M would have the guidance and mentorship I needed to find my footing again. The level of expertise in the Survey Department and willingness from coworkers to guide me has led me to thrive in a world I once knew very well.”

Since being back at R&M, Gretchen has provided survey control diagrams, utility basemaps, and plats for airport, highway and neighborhood improvement projects. These include the Twin Hills Airport Rehabilitation, Bethel Airport West Apron, Lucas to O’Neil Closeout Survey Tap Transmission Line Project, SCF Patricia Subdivision and Seward Highway MP 36-48.

“Now that I have children, my days of working long hours out in the field have ended. There is a lot to learn about survey office work and I have only just begun to dive into that. Luckily for me, R&M is a wealth of knowledge that I plan on fully taking advantage of. My goal as I head down this career path is simply to soak up as much as I can and to become proficient in all aspects of surveying.”
