AJ Griffin, PLS Joins R&M’s Geomatics Department

AJ Griffin, PLS recently joined R&M as a Senior Land Surveyor in the firm’s Geomatics Department. AJ will be responsible for production of surveying and mapping products for a variety of projects.

AJ brings 20 years of surveying experience to R&M, with 15 of those years in Alaska. He is experienced in all types of surveys, including horizontal and vertical control networks; geodetic control and aerial photography control surveys; boundary and cadastral surveys; topographic and bathymetric mapping; right of way surveys; land title surveys; FEMA flood insurance surveys; Federal Aviation Administration 150/5300 surveys; quantity surveys; and construction layout and computations. AJ excels at overseeing field crews to ensure projects are completed efficiently and correctly. He is very detailed oriented and takes the time to ensure his work products are done right the first time.

Since joining the firm, AJ has been involved with the Old Richardson Highway Intersection Improvements, 16th Avenue Storm Drain, Mertarvik Barge Landing, Ekwok Airport Resurfacing, and Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility 900 Reservoir and Water Treatment Main projects. On these projects he has conducted design surveys using Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) point cloud data, captured UAS aerial photography, prepared survey control sheets and prepped for field work.

AJ has a B.A. in Geography from the University of Montana Missoula. He is a Professional Land Surveyor licensed in Alaska and Washington, and is a Part 107 UAS Pilot. In his free time, AJ is an avid biker, skier and hiker. He spends a lot of time outdoors and truly enjoys being outside no matter what the weather is doing.
