IT Specialist
In A Nutshell
R&M is looking for a team-oriented IT Specialist to support expansion of our IT Group.
As a member of the R&M team, the IT Specialist will provide technical support to end-users, resolving issues related to the Windows operating system, software and hardware. The IT Specialist will install, upgrade and maintain operating systems, software applications and security patches. The IT Specialist will also manage user accounts, permissions and access rights, including software licenses.
This is an on-site position in Anchorage. Limited travel may be required in support of our Juneau and Fairbanks locations, as well as numerous field offices.
The IT Specialist will be expected to actively participate and represent R&M in professional organizations and community activities.
The IT Specialist will report to the Group Manager of IT or a Senior IT Specialist.
On Any Given Day
On a typical day, the IT Specialist will:
- Provide technical support via phone, e-mail, chat or in-person to resolve complex IT issues related to hardware, sofware, network and peripherals.
- Manage and prioritize support requests to ensure timely resolutions and minimal disruptions to business operations.
- Plan and manage installation, upgrade, repair and replacement of desktops, laptops and peripherals.
- Configure and maintain new and existing employee hardware, software and peripherals.
- Configure and maintain deployment servers.
- Create and manager user accounts within Active Director and/or the Microsoft Admin Center.
- Create and deploy software packages and updates via Microsoft Management Solutions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must have the following skills and experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating system.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Experience in a help desk environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Management Solutions (Intune, Configuration Manager, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Admin Center.
- Scripting experience, preferably with PowerShell.
All candidates should have good interpersonal abilities for working in a dynamic team environment, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. Applicants must have a valid Alaska driver’s license.
