R&M’s experienced surveying and mapping staff benefits from our close working relationship with our in-house design, engineering, geotechnical and construction administration staff. This has resulted in our surveying staff becoming especially familiar with the intended use of our survey data, which is an extremely important aspect of our work. It ensures that our survey team understands the critical data which the survey information offers to a successful project design or acquisition, and uses the appropriate methods to collect and report the information.
R&M places great value on incorporating new technologies and methodologies in surveying and mapping equipment, as well as in computer technologies and software. R&M’s management team encourages increased productivity, accuracy and cost-efficiency through the use of available technology. An example of this is GPS receivers and computers. R&M is an Alaskan-leader in the application of GPS technology, having used this modern satellite positioning equipment since 1990. Our talented team completely understands the geodetic computations behind GPS, and has the ability and know-how to perform quick, accurate and cost-efficient GPS positioning. R&M has successfully applied GPS technologies for a multitude of different project types, with no project failures or unacceptable accuracies.
R&M has also established an automated system of data point descriptor coding and processing. This technique automates the collection of field data points and transfer to digital AutoCAD drawings in the proper client drawing layer convention. Our team offers a combined computer software site of commercial software (Autodesk 2002/2005, Land Desktop, Star*Net GPS, Trimble Geomatics Office (TGO), PacSoft, and proprietary geodetic COGO software and customized utilities) for import/export of digital survey data and drawings to commercial software packages. This software suite is tailored to provide cost-effective project deliverables.
Another recent acquisition is the addition of a High Definition Scanner to R&M’s extensive inventory of survey equipment. R&M is one of the first consulting firms in Alaska to apply high definition surveying techniques to assist clients in gathering data to support a wide range of projects.
Efficient management, talented and experienced personnel, and state-of-the-art equipment all contribute to R&M’s ability to provide responsive, accurate surveying services to our valued clients.
