R&M adds to Anchorage Office Staff
R&M CONSULTANTS, INC. (R&M) is pleased to announce the addition of five staff members to our Anchorage office team:
Holly Weiss-Racine, G.I.T. joined R&M’s Earth Sciences Department as an Environmental Specialist in September 2010. Holly has more than three years of environmental experience, conducting environmental field investigations and preparing environmental documents. Prior to joining R&M, she was an Environmental Impact Analyst with the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities. In this position, Holly’s main responsibility was to prepare environmental documents in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process for highway and airport projects. She holds a B.S. in Geosciences from the University of Southern Maine. Holly is a Registered Geologist in Training and an Alaska Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead. Since joining R&M, she has been involved with the firm’s contract to inventory statewide materials sites, has helped develop a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan for Mertarvik, and has provided environmental services in association with the Anchorage B-6 Sewer Trunk Upgrade, Akutan Airport, and Anaktuvuk Pass Contact Creek Bridge.
Mike Wariner, P.E. joined R&M as Group Manager of Special Inspection Services and our Materials Engineering Laboratory in January 2011. In this position, he is responsible for management and development of R&M’s Special Inspection Group and Materials Engineering Laboratory, which includes promoting relationships with new and existing clients. Mike’s responsibilities include marketing special inspection and laboratory services, recruitment, managing project work, coordination of technical staff, and establishing, promoting and assuring quality on all projects and work performed by special inspection and laboratory staff. Mike has 14 years of professional experience. He has been responsible for geotechnical engineering in foundation design, concrete and asphalt pavement designs, analysis of existing pavement using traditional and non-destructive testing to provide remediation recommendations, and project management and supervision of field technicians performing construction observations and inspections. Mike holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He is a professional civil engineer registered in Colorado and Arizona, with Alaska registration pending. Mike is a Municipality of Anchorage approved Special Inspector and holds numerous certifications through the Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction, American Concrete Institute, Post Tension Institute, and the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies.
Brian Mullen, E.I.T. joined R&M’s Earth Sciences Department in January 2011, as a Geotechnical Staff Engineer. Originally from Missouri, Brian moved to Alaska in 2008, after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He has two years of experience in the geotechnical field in Alaska. Brian has conducted subsurface investigations in locations throughout the state. Since joining R&M, he has been working on R&M’s Statewide Materials Site Inventory contract with DOT&PF, as well as the Allison Lake Hydroelectric Project, Alakanuk School Replacement and a new health clinic project in Anchorage.
Evan Griffith, P.E. joined R&M’s Engineering Department as Group Manager of Airport Engineering in February 2011. He brings a wealth of experience to the R&M team, with 19 years of Alaskan engineering experience, including the last 12 years focused on aviation projects. Evan’s project experience includes airport reconstruction or relocations at Kotzebue, Deadhorse, Petersburg, Northway, Cordova, Ketchikan, King Cove, Akiachak, Takotna and Tetlin. He has also been involved in multiple projects at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. This experience has provided him with a complete understanding of Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities and Federal Aviation Administration standards and requirements for project delivery. Evan holds a M.S. and a B.S. in Civil Engineering, both from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He is a professional civil engineer registered in Alaska.
Angela Smith, P.E. joined R&M’s Engineering Department as a Senior Project Engineer within the firm’s Airport Engineering Group. Angela has 11 years of civil engineering experience. She has provided engineering, planning and environmental services on numerous critical and challenging aviation projects from planning to design and on through construction. Her project experience includes multiple projects at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, as well as projects at St. Paul, St. George, Red Dog Mine, Deadhorse, Fairbanks, King Salmon, Juneau, Savoonga, Dillingham, Cold Bay, Adak, Akutan, Nanwalek, Angoon and Kodiak. Angela holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She is a professional civil engineer registered in Alaska.
