R&M Consultants, Inc. is a well-established, employee-owned Alaskan professional services firm specializing in cold regions civil engineering. Over the past 42 years, R&M has participated in some of Alaska’s most significant and technically challenging surface transportation projects. Recent and ongoing work includes the C Street Extension: O’Malley Road to Dimond Boulevard, Fairview Loop Road Rehabilitation, Dalton Highway MP 11-18 Reconstruction, and the Ketchikan Water Street Viaduct.
R&M is currently seeking a team-oriented senior project civil engineer to support expansion of our Surface Transportation Group.
As a member of the R&M team, the senior project engineer will be responsible for oversight of design work on a project-by-project basis. This position requires the application of theories, principles and practices of highway engineering. Projects involve preparing studies, plans, specifications, and estimates for the design of highways, streets and other related facilities.
The successful applicant for this position will be responsible for managing the productivity of technical staff and will include training employees, making work assignments, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. Duties include supervising project engineers, staff engineers, engineering technicians and interns, and coordinating project deliverables with R&M’s outstanding Surveying and Mapping, Earth Sciences and Construction Services Departments to meet client schedules. This position involves participation in project meetings, client meetings and public meetings.
The successful applicant will also be expected to represent R&M and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities.
The senior project engineer will report to the Surface Transportation Group Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering and 10+ years of experience in civil design work, with emphasis in highway and street design. Other desirable qualifications include experience in traffic engineering, developing utility agreements, and hydrology. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D desired, as well as basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. All candidates should have good interpersonal abilities for working in a dynamic team environment and strong written and verbal communication skills. Alaskan P.E. required or able to obtain by reciprocity.
The ideal candidate will have experience on projects for the Municipality of Anchorage Project Management & Engineering Department and/or the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities.
