Job Description

R&M Consultants, Inc. is a well-established, employee-owned multi-discipline Alaskan firm. Over the past 41 years, R&M has built a solid reputation as one of Alaska’s premier civil engineering firms, with outstanding complementary capabilities in construction administration, materials testing, special inspection, earth sciences, and surveying and mapping. The R&M team has provided construction administration, materials testing, and inspection services to a wide range of Alaskan clients and has established itself as a leading provider of construction administration services on publicly-funded projects.

R&M is currently seeking a team-oriented senior project engineer to support railroad construction projects throughout Alaska.

As a member of the R&M team, the senior project engineer will be responsible for administration of federal and state-funded construction contracts, including overseeing day-to-day construction operations. Tasks generally include serving as the Owner’s On-Site Representative, corresponding with construction contractors, issuing change orders and directives, processing pay estimates, performing field engineering, and managing R&M field staff.

The successful applicant for this position will be required to travel within the state of Alaska. This work is often seasonal and typically requires overtime hours.

The senior project engineer will report to the Construction Administration Group Manager or the Project Manager on a day-to-day basis, based on team organization for specific projects.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and more than 10 years of experience in administering bridge construction projects, with an emphasis in railroad and highway facilities. Other desirable qualifications include experience on Alaska Railroad construction projects or with other railroad corporations, AK-CESCL, as well as basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. All candidates should have good interpersonal abilities for working in a dynamic team environment and strong written and verbal communication skills.
