R&M Consultants, Inc. is a well-established, employee-owned multi-discipline Alaskan firm specializing in cold regions civil engineering. Over the past 39 years, R&M has participated in some of Alaska’s most significant and technically challenging civil infrastructure projects, such as the Trans Alaska Pipeline System, Seward Highway Canyon Creek Bridge, and the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport Terminal C Redevelopment.
R&M is currently seeking a team-oriented project civil engineer to support expansion of our Surface Transportation Group.
As a member of the R&M team, the project engineer will be responsible for performing analysis and design tasks related to surface transportation projects. Tasks generally include initiating and developing technical-level design concepts and details, studies, and recommended design solutions; and preparing final plans, specifications and cost estimates for construction bidding. During construction, tasks typically include technical support, submittal reviews and milestone site inspections.
The successful applicant for this position will analyze and design line and grade for roadways in accordance with the appropriate design standards and criteria. Duties include supervising staff engineers, technicians and interns, and coordinating project deliverables with R&M’s outstanding Surveying and Mapping, Earth Sciences and Construction Services Departments to meet client schedules. This position involves participation in project meetings, client meetings and public meetings.
The successful applicant will also be expected to represent R&M and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities.
The project engineer will report to a Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager on a day-to-day basis, based on team organization for specific projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering and 5-10 years of experience in civil design work, with emphasis in highway and street design. Other desirable qualifications include experience in traffic engineering, developing utility agreements, and hydrology. Proficiency with AutoCAD/Land Desktop desired, as well as basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. All candidates should have good interpersonal abilities for working in a dynamic team environment and strong written and verbal communication skills. Alaskan P.E. required or able to obtain by reciprocity.
