R&M Consultants, Inc. is a well-established, employee-owned multi-discipline Alaskan professional services firm. R&M has provided materials testing in Alaska for more than 41 years, and have been in the vanguard of special inspections since the late 1970’s, when we performed quality assurance inspections on several of the large Project ‘80s structures for the Municipality of Anchorage.
R&M is currently seeking a dynamic, outgoing individual to develop and manage our Special Inspection Group and Materials Engineering Laboratory.
As a member of the R&M team, the Group Manager will be responsible for management and development of R&M’s Special Inspection Group and Materials Engineering Laboratory, which includes promoting relationships with existing and new clients. Responsibilities will include marketing special inspection and laboratory services, recruitment, managing project work, coordination of technical staff, and establishing, promoting and assuring quality on all projects and work performed by special inspection and laboratory staff.
The successful applicant will supervise Senior Special Inspectors, Special Inspectors, the Supervising Laboratory Technician and Engineering Technicians, and will provide oversight and coordination with other groups within the Construction Services Department, as well as with R&M’s outstanding Surveying and Mapping, Earth Sciences and Civil Engineering Departments to meet client schedules. This position involves participation in project meetings, client meetings and public meetings.
The successful applicant will be expected to represent R&M and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities.
The Group Manager will work under the supervision of the Senior Vice President: Construction Services in close coordination with other team members.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and 10 or more years of experience in special inspection and materials testing. The ideal candidate will also have three to five years of experience as a special inspection and/or laboratory group manager. All candidates should have good interpersonal abilities for working in a team environment and strong written and verbal communication skills. Alaska P.E. required or able to obtain by reciprocity. Municipality of Anchorage Special Inspection certification required, along with current ICC, ACI, WAQTC and PSI certifications.
