R&M CONSULTANTS, INC. (R&M) is a well-established, employee-owned Alaskan professional services firm. Since 1969, R&M has participated in some of Alaska’s most significant and technically challenging projects. Recent projects include Seward Highway MP 100-105, Gustavus Rink Creek Bridge (Culvert), Hughes Airport Improvements Hydrologic Assessment, Nenana Little Goldstream Creek Bridge Replacement, Big Delta SHP Boat Launch and Hydrology Study, Dalton Highway MP 209-235 Reconstruction and the Chikuminuk Hydroelectric Project.

R&M is currently seeking a team-oriented senior project engineer to support our Water Resources Group.

The Senior Project Engineer will perform analysis and design tasks related to water resources, and will also provide hydrologic and hydraulic analysis support on highway, street, airport, site development and hydropower projects. Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis efforts will include calculation of runoff and stream flow, calculation of drainage structure hydraulics, analyses of scour and sediment transport, and design of erosion control. Duties will also include occasional field work for hydrologic and hydraulic data collection, the production of written documentation of analysis and design efforts, and the development of Plans, Specifications and Estimates when required and in accordance with the appropriate design standards.

The successful applicant will also be expected to represent R&M and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities.

The Senior Project Engineer will report to the Group Manager of Water Resources.

Minimum Qualifications

The position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering 15 or more years of experience, including a minimum of 5 years of specialized experience working in water resources. HEC-RAS modeling experience is required. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is desired, as well as basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with ArcGIS, HEC-HMS, TR-55, SWMM, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis, HY-8 and FishXing preferred, but not required. All candidates should have good interpersonal abilities for working in a team environment, and strong written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and detail oriented. Alaskan PE required or able to obtain by reciprocity.
