Description
of project:
Detailed topographic, planimetric and boundary information
was collected to support our in-house engineering design
effort for the USCOE Fort Greely Mobility Test Complex project.
Primary horizontal control was established using Static
GPS techniques with four Trimble 4800 dual frequency receivers.
The GPS vectors were adjusted to the existing control using
least squares methods with Trimble Geomatics Office software.
The project coordinates are referenced to the UTM Zone 6
metric datum.
The project vertical datum is based on ties to existing
NAVD88 control established by the USCOE for the Fort Greely
National Missile Defense site. Orthometric heights were derived
from the project control using the geoid model GEOID99AK.
Project elevations were established and verified using differential
leveling techniques.
The topographic and planimetric information was collected
using a combination of GPS RTK and conventional surveying
techniques.
The resulting mapping and TIN data was combined with LIDAR
information to produce a DTM of over 1200 acres. This data
will be used for a test facility to further improve our national
security.
